Trichilone, a New C-21 Steroid from Trichilia connaroides

摘要Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Trichilia connaroides led to the isolation of a new pregnane, trichilone (1), featuring a 2-methoxycyclopent-2-enone moiety, along with a related known compound, 3 beta,4 alpha-dihydroxypregnane-16-one (2). The structure of 1 was established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. Compound 1 showed significant root-growth inhibition activity against Amaranthus. mangostanus with an IC50 value of 23.1 ppm.
