摘要 | Abstract This dissertation is mainly composed of three chapters. The first chapter described the systematic investigation on the chemical constituents from two edible plants, rhizomes of Rhynchanthus beesianus and the fruits of Lycium barbarum. Some obtained compounds were evaluated for their antioxidant, intestinal propulsion promoting, and antitumor effects. The second chapter presented the steroidal saponins and their antitumor activities from three plants, named Tacca chantrieri, Tacca subflabellata, and Campylandra yunnanensis. The third one described the detailed studies of the monoterpene indole alkaloids and their antibacterial activities from the seeds of Voacanga africana. A total of 154 compounds, including 14 new ones were isolated and structurally identified from the above mentioned six species by means of various chromatograpgic technologies (including normal and reverse phase silica gel, thin-layer Sephadex LH-20 gel, medium pressure liquid, and high performance liquid chromatographies) and diverse spectroscopic methods (including nuclear magnetic resonance, mass, ultraviolet, infrared, and circular dichroism spectra). The structural type of these isolates include steroid saponins, indole alkaloids, phenolic amides, diarylheptanoids, monoterpene glycosides, sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes, flavonoids, and lignans. In addition, the antioxidant, intestinal propulsion promoting, antimicrobial, and antitumor properties of some compounds were evaluated. The first chapter Chemical constituents and their biological activities from two edible plants 1.1 Chemical constituents of rhizomes of Rhynchanthus beesianus and their antioxidant and intestinal propulsion promoting effects R. beesianus is a member of genus Rhynchanthus (Zingiberaceae family). It’s rhizomes are very rich in essential essential oil responsible for the treatment of stomachache, backache, and indigestion. This plant is endemic to Yunnan, and is mainly distributed in Xishuangbanna, Tengchong, Dali, and Lijiang regions of Yunnan province. It’s tuberous rhizomes that possess cooling and anti-inflammatory properties are widely and traditionally consumed as vegetables by the local people. Compared with the traditional edible ginger, the aroma and taste of the rhizomes of R. beesianus are quite different. Apart from essential oil, no chemical composition of R. beesianus has been reported. The current phytochemical investigation on R. beesianus rhizomes led to the isolation and identification of 55 compounds (including 7 new ones). These isolates contained 17 sesquiterpenes and their glycosides, 16 phenolic compounds, 5 monoterpene glycosides, 5 diterpenes and their glycosides, and 2 triterpenes. Also, the intestinal propulsion promoting activities in mice for various polar fractions and 10 terpenoids weighing more than 100 mg were investigated.
