摘要 | Spinescence is an important physical defense against herbivores for plant species. Spinescence can deter herbivores against grazing, reduce the bite size, or decrease the herbivore effectiveness, which is of great significance to improve the fitness of plants. Spiny plants are distributed in vegetations all over the world, and are found in many branches of angiosperms. However, the research on the distribution pattern and dominant factors of spiny plants is still lacking and scattered. The research on the distribution pattern and the formation reasons of spiny plants will help us understanding plant adaptations to environments, and then help us understanding the formation and maintenance mechanisms of plant diversity on the spatial scale. Due to the different evolutionary history and environmental conditions in different regions, the factors shaping the distribution patterns of plant spinescence are different, and it is necessary to carry out comparative researches in different regions. Based on the method of macroecology, this paper collected the plant checklist of 123 countries in Yunnan Province. Using the network species distribution data and network climate layer, we discuss the spatial distribution pattern and environmental interpretation of spiny plants on country level in Yunnan Province, as well as the relationship between spinescence and floristic types, plant life forms and plant organs in Jiaozi snow mountain. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) Among 14, 599 angiosperm species in Yunnan Province, 1295 species are spiny, accounting for 8.9%. The proportion of spinescent species peaks at mid-latitude, with the highest proportion (15.7%) at around 25 ° N (Yunnan Province span from 21 ° 8 ′ N to 29 ° 15 ′ N) on country level in Yunnan Province. It still presents a unimodel pattern after accounting for phylogenetic relationships. The proportion of spinescent plants is higher in the East than in the West, and peaks at mid-elevation. Latitude, elevation standard deviation and mean elevation jointly explain 16.3% of spatial variation of the proportion of spinescent species. Among all the tested factors, plant species richness (R2 = 0.16) has the highest correlation with the distribution pattern of spiny plants in Yunnan Province, while the precipitation of coldest quarter (R2 = 0.08) and the min temperature of coldest month (R2 = 0.088) are closely related to the distribution pattern of spiny plants in Yunnan Province, and above factors together explain 20.2% of spatial variation of the proportion of spinescent species. The proportion of spinescent species is not related to net primary productivity and solar radiation. The proportion of spinescent species shows a unimodel pattern with the change of temperature factors, and shows a monotonous decrease pattern with the change of water factors.
